On 21 and 22 September 2026, Legal Revolution brought the legal market together at the Estrel Congress Center in Berlin. Organised by EDRA Media and ELTA, the conference counted, according to its organisers, more than 1,000 attendees, over 100 speakers and more than 80 partners across some 150 sessions. This year's edition also marked the tenth anniversary of the European Legal Technology Association.
For Bernima, Berlin carried particular significance: it was the first presentation of Bernio to the German market.
Bernio's first presentation in Germany
On 21 September, Bernima's CEO and Co-Founder, Dr. Sergey Milutin, LL.M., and Head of Business Development for Europe, Eugène Goussev, took part in the ELTA panel "From Startup to Standout: Gaining Traction with ELTA" on the Partnerstage.
The presentation set out the architecture behind Bernio and the principle it is built on: a matter is not a conversation. Legal work runs across documents, parties, dates, strategy and deadlines. An AI system that serves it has to work with that full context, on infrastructure the firm controls, and under the responsibility of the lawyer who owns the matter.
What Bernio is
Bernio is an agentic operating system for legal professionals, built with a strong focus on security, on keeping privileged material under the firm's control, and on efficient token economics. Three characteristics set it apart:
- On-premise deployment. Bernio is deployed on the firm's own infrastructure, with the firm's own storage and keys.
- Proprietary AI models for most legal tasks. The majority of legal work runs on models Bernima has built for it.
- Matter-specific context. Bernio combines the extensive context of a matter — its documents, chronology, parties and strategy — so that AI works with the whole matter rather than a single prompt, which improves the quality of its output.
Bernio's legal content currently covers English law. Further jurisdictions are in active development, beginning with Germany, alongside France, Cyprus and the United States.
Conversations that will shape the product
Over two days, the Bernima team met managing partners, general counsel, leading practitioners and founders from across the European legal technology community. The conference brought many new contacts, and a number of these conversations will continue after Berlin.
The discussions centred on the future of legal AI and of the legal profession itself: how legal work changes when AI takes part in it, what must remain with the responsible lawyer, and what firms need to see before they entrust a client matter to an AI system. The feedback and insights from these exchanges are already informing Bernio's product development.
The conference closed with a keynote by Professor Richard Susskind, who set out his view of how law and legal services will develop and presented his new book, The Future of Law: Reflections and Predictions (Oxford University Press). The book returns to his 1996 work The Future of Law thirty years on, with new commentary on each chapter and a new introductory chapter on the impact of AI on legal work.
Early adopters in Europe
Following its first presentation in Germany, Bernima is inviting its first early adopters in Europe. Law firms and in-house legal departments that join at this stage will do so on exclusive terms.
